| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Yamaha RX-V671:
As What Hi-Fi have recognised in their recent rave review of the 671, the result of not spending on Spotify or Airplay, is that the Yamaha actually sounds better than its rivals. It is also extremely well specified - including six HDMI 1.4 inputs, plus 7 x 150 watts, plus 1080p upscaling, plus Bi-amp capability, plus standby HDMI pass-through, plus audio return, plus second zone capability, plus front USB iPod connectivity. You can even turn your smartphone into a remote control for this amp, using the free Apple & Android Remote Apps.
Wharfedale DX-1 HCP:
Wharfedale's highly-acclaimed Diamond 10.1 speaker has been a long standing favourite of ours, so we had high hopes for this DX-1HCP system, when we heard that its design was inspired by none other than the 10.1.
You can see the similarities immediately, because the DX-1' satellites sport beautifully curved cabinets, which make them look just like miniature 10.1s and its woven polypropylene bass driver plus silver bezel rings are the mirror image of those found on its big brother. However, the obvious difference between the two designs is the size, because the DX-1's satellites measure just 19cm tall, which is much more 'room friendly' than the 10.1s (or most other systems!). The other major difference is that the DX-1s are finished in a superb high gloss black lacquer and have a clever key-hole wall mounting system, which means that they look perfect on the wall, alongside a modern gloss black TV. Scaling down in size, doesn't mean a dramatic scaling down in sound, though, because clever technology plus the inclusion of a superb subwoofer, means it punches well above its weight.
